While you're out shopping on Black Friday, trying to scoop up that 40-inch HDTV on sale or attempting to diet after binging on Turkey the day before, let's all try to keep our local teams in mind this holiday season. We have a lot to be thankful for, but here are some Thanksgiving wishes for the players and teams we hold so dear. For the Cowboys: Let's wish for team harmony, better bodyguards for Pacman Jones, a long-awaited smile for Wade Phillips, more TD's from Hard Knocks hero Martellus Bennett, a new team mascot (who else thinks Rowdy has grown tiresome?), heavily discounted seats at the new stadium in Arlington from Jerry Jones, regular interviews given by Marion Barber and, of course...a playoff berth. For the Mavericks: Let's wish for the team to acquire a player to truly backup Dirk, a player to truly backup Jason Kidd, a bruiser who will dish it out on the court, a replacement for jumbotron geek Chris Arnold (his act got tired about six years ago), a much more toned down "Humble" Billy Hayes, less expensive nachos at the AAC and most important of all, a new reality tv show from Mark Cuban (just kidding). For the Stars: Let's wish for some much-needed health, some better and more passionate play, much improved goaltending, the "next big thing" from Grand Rapids and Manitoba to provide a spark, louder fans, and no more excuses. For the Rangers: Let's wish for the obvious...pitching, pitching, pitching and more pitching, a "no trade policy" on departing pitchers, a retractable roof for the blistering Summer months (I know it's structurally impossible, but hey...it's Thanksgiving), oh yeah...more pitching, a rule banning John Hart from ever entering the stadium again, a rule requiring players to be kinder to the media, and yes...cheaper nachos. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. We wish you a safe and happy holiday.
