Nearly everyone agrees, the BCS is a joke. I'm sorry, but deciding the outcome of a game of blood, sweat and tears that is played by humans should not be left up to a computer. If any sport deserves a playoff system, it is college football....where we should teach the young stars of tomorrow that we don't live in a corrupt world. But, I digress. The Longhorns have logic and fairness on their side in their BCS "argument" versus the Sooners. But that doesn't mean it will turn out that way. Speculation is that if Oklahoma blows out OSU on Saturday, the Sooners will surpass Texas in the BCS standings. Strange, but true. Never mind the fact that the Horns won the only head-to-head battle of the two schools this year, played on a neutral site. Never mind that the Horns currently sit number two in the BCS. Remember when you actually had to lose to slip in the rankings? If I'm Mack Brown and I wake up Sunday morning and discover I'm bumped down to third in the BCS, you'll hear some leftover turkey stirring in the ole stomach. He should cry foul (or fowl?) and have every right to be livid. But unfortunately, this kind of injustice will continue...until a true playoff system in college football. |
