Boy do the Dallas Cowboys really need this bye week.

After starting 3-0, the Cowboys have gone 2-4 the past six weeks and have suffered a barrage of injuries.

They have been missing Pro Bowlers Tony Romo, Terence Newman, safety Roy Williams and Mat McBriar.

Key contributors Kyle Kosier, Felix Jones and Adam "Pacman" Jones have also been out.

Plus injuries have hampered Jason Witten, Pat Watkins, Anthony Spencer and Anthony Henry.

Now the Cowboys get a week to heal and regroup. Romo, Newman, Felix Jones and Kosier should all be back when the Cowboys head to Washington Nov. 16.

Pacman Jones could return after that game if NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell lifts a suspension on Jones for violating the league's conduct policy.

Despite the coming relief, the Cowboys are in a precarious position. They are now in last place in the NFC East, although they are above .500 at 5-4.

At this point, it's almost impossible for them to catch the Giants for the NFC East title being three games back with seven to play, but they Cowboys can still make the playoffs as a wild card team.

After Washington, the Cowboys have must-win home games against San Francisco and Seattle, two of the worst teams in the league.

Then comes a tough road game at Pittsburgh, home games against the Giants and Ravens, then a trip to Phily to close the season.

If you give the Cowboys wins in the two "easy" games, they still need to win three of the five against the Redskins, Steelers, Giants, Ravens and Eagles to get to the likely 10 wins needed to make the playoffs.

The Eagles game is also likely a must game since they will be fighting for the playoff spot with the Cowboys. That last game could be huge.

The Cowboys still need to win at least two more. You would think the Ravens at home would be one of the better opportunities and the Cowboys-Redskins series is often full of weird games, so that one is one to watch too.

It's hard to see how the Cowboys win in Pittsburgh or against the Giants, without major improvements.

So there it is hope, but not too much for the Cowboys

The team needs a new owner. Jerry Jones is the problem and has been since Tom Landry's departure. Until Jerry "Greedy" Jones sells the team to an owner with integrity and one not out to just make a buck to line his own pockets, the team will struggle to return to greatness.

I'm done with Dallas and looking for a new favorite NFL team!
