Last Coach: Phillip Fulmer Dallas Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips say quarterback Tony Romo is improving in his return from a broken pinkie. "Romo is better and better," Phillips said. "He had a lot more zip on the ball." Phillips said Romo has show improvement over last week, but is not working extra. Brad Johnson could still be the second quarterback for the Cowboys Sunday. The reason is he is also the holder on field goals and extra points. Coach Wade Phillips said he is trying out holders including receiver Patrick Crayton, quarterback Brooks Bollinger and punter Sam Paulescu, but Phillips said he may still go with Johnson. "I'm not going to go into a game where I'm not comfortable with a snapper or a holder or a return... Dallas Cowboys rookie running back Felix Jones didn't practice during the team's first action since the bye-week. Despite not practicing, Jones said he is expecting to play Sunday against the Washington Redskins. ...Maybe this has to do with the recent trade for wide receiver Roy Williams (who wears number 11 now) or maybe it was just one of those weird coincidences. But I saw two people wearing Drew Bledsoe's #11 jersey yesterday while running errands. The first one I saw I thought "wow, he's wasting now time showing some love for Roy Williams." Then I saw the name Bledsoe on the back. Strange enough. Then I was at the... Playing better is only part of the Cowboys problem. Who they play might be a bigger problem. They have the Giants again, the Eagles in Philadelphia, a game at Pittsburgh that won't be easy to win and the game at Washington next week. They had a long weekend, too. Must wins are always a little goofy to me unless they really are and it's impossible to have a must win game in November, but the game in Washington next week... |
