The weekend that was...

I don't think any of us as sports fans could've seen this past weekend coming. If you had USC losing at Oregon State, Florida at home against Ole Miss, Georgia at home against 'Bama, Wisconsin at home vs. Michigan, and by the way the Cowboys losing as 11 point favorites, you need to move to Vegas.

In college football, no matter which way you look at it, parity is here and its here to stay. What this weekend left us with is an Oklahoma Sooner team ranked #1 in both the USA Today and AP Top 25. And depending on which way you look at it, Alabama, Missouri, LSU and Texas round out the top 5. What this weekend guarantees is that this season is up for grabs. Right now, based on the first 5 weeks of the season you could make an argument that Oklahoma and Alabama are the 2 best teams in the nation(which they should be).

I'm sure ESPN is salivating at the chance to have these 2 traditional powers meet up later in the season. My guess is Alabama will lose at least once in the SEC and as for Oklahoma....just the way this season has gone we will probably see: Texas beat OU; Texas Tech beat Texas and then Oklahoma beating Tech, in which case tiebreakers for the chance to play Missouri in Kansas City. (Btw, Texas goes on the road at Colorado this week, then vs. Oklahoma in Dallas, then back to Austin vs. Missouri followed by OSU and then to Lubbock to play Tech...who made that schedule?) So as we saw in week 5, nothing is certain in College Football...and I, for one can't wait for the rest of the season.

As for the Cowboys....all you Cowboys fans need to step away from the cliff. It's only one loss. You didn't think this team would go undefeated would you? Yes, it's a division loss, but with this division, every team will have at least 2 division losses at season's end. So, everyone calm down. It's now murderer's row for America's team(Cincinnati, @Arizona, @St. Louis), in which case, in 3 weeks, Dallas will be 6-1. And you could make the case for 7-1 after the Tampa game, with a trip to NYG looming. And if the Cowboys win that one, everyone will be ready to proclaim the Cowboys Super Bowl Champs once again. But, let's just take it one week at a time.

I am overtly attracted to you and your hot sports opinions. Can we get our guns up together this weekend in Lubbock? Palin Power!

I would agree this weekend was crazy and both the sec and big 12 are going to provide us with some amazing action over the next few months. It is going to be a blast watching the two conferences just beat each other up and see who survives. What the heck is with USC being ranked higher than Georgia????? I think that is just wrong. How is a team that gets beat by a non-ranked Oregon State stay ahead of Georgia who got beat by the second best team in the country, even if it was at home.

The cowboys will be alright but the NFC East is the toughest division in all of sports. The "worst" team just dominated the "best" team on sunday and the giants and eagles both look legit.

good stuff nick, only thing i saw was that wisconsin lost to michigan at the big house and not in wisconsin.

Keep up the good work man, Raider Power and your from arlington!!
