As Hurricane Ike approaches, weekend football games are adjusting their times and dates to avoid the bad weather. The Texas Longhorns and Arkansas Razorbacks game in Austin, which was scheduled for Saturday, has been postponed and rescheduled for Sept. 27. The Saturday TCU game against Stanford has been changed from 6 p.m. to noon in Fort Worth. The Washington State-Baylor football game has been moved up to Friday night to avoid complications with Hurricane Ike. The game was originally scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Waco was played Friday night. Baylor won 45-17. The Plano East vs. Colleyville-Heritage varsity football game, originally scheduled for Saturday, was moved forward to Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Clark Stadium in Plano. Celina was scheduled to play Daingerfield Saturday at Royse City, but the game was played at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Celina. Savoy forfeited its game against Colleyville Covenant that was scheduled for Saturday. Because some Dallas ISD facilities are being used to house Ike evacuees there have been several changes to the district's volleyball schedule. The site of the volleyball games between Skyline High School and Lake Highlands have been changed from Ellis Davis Field House to Skyline High School; the Sunset High School and Richardson site has been changed from Ellis Davis Field House to Sunset High School; W.T. White High School and Creekview High School site has changed from Alfred J. Loos Field House to Creekview High School; and Thomas Jefferson High School and Samuell High School site has changed from Alfred J. Loos Field House to Thomas Jefferson High School. Here are some other football games that have been changed due to Ike: --The Houston Texas vs. the Baltimore Raves NFL game has been moved from 3:15 p.m. Sunday to 7:30 p.m. Monday in Houston. Remember that many, many OSU alums live in the DFW area. The OSU game with Mizzouri State has been changed from 6 pm. to 12:05 PM and is on FCS. 4
Why are we watching Football (college even if that matters??) when the biggest storm in Texas recent history is the big news right now? We want to know what's happening, not who got to go to school on a "athletic" scholarship. This is so sad, this is our local news station and this is the best they can do.
