Cowboys cut four

No shockers here, but the Dallas Cowboys released four players today:

CB Quincy Butler
P Jay Ottovegio
WR Daniel Polk
QB Jeff Terrell

Butler, a TCU product, was injured for much of the preseason and faced improved corner depth. He could catch on elsewhere.

Ottovegio showed some promise as a punter and kickoff man, but with Nick Folk at kicker and Mat McBriar at punter, there simply wasn't room for him of the roster. Expect him to get a good look from other teams.

Terrell, the former Princeton standout, really didn't ever have a shot to make the team. He was an extra arm brought in for camp.

And Polk, well, it doesn't say much for him when he is cut after the team suffers injuries to its number four and five receivers.

Tomorrow, the roster must be trimmed to 75, but the Cowboys are already there by also coming to an injury settlement with fullback Ronnie Cruz.

The Cowboys have to cut the roster down to the regular season 53 on Saturday.
