This is how good Serena and Venus Williams are. Not only are both going to the semifinals in singles, they are also going to the semis as a doubles team. The sisters defeated Bethanie Mattek of the U.S. and Sania Mirza of India, 6-4, 6-3 in their quarterfinals match today. Venus has won four Wimbledon singles titles and Serena two. They've won Wimbledon twice as doubles partners (2000 and '02) and have a total of six Grand Slam doubles titles together. If they both advance in the singles semis they'd meet in the finals Saturday, the same day as their would be doubles final. They are definitely staying busy in London. |
