Jason Witten one-on-one with Hansen

From Ted Madden in Oxnard:

Just a little while ago, we finished shooting Dale's one-on-one interview with Cowboys tight end, and real good guy, Jason Witten.

One thing he said during the interview that stuck out to me was this: "We have a lot of all-star names, but the team has to be first." It sounds pretty cliché, but earlier this week, when Hansen interviewed linebacker Bradie James, he said almost the exact same thing: that they are a team full of all-stars, but the only name that matters is the Dallas Cowboys. It's a good sign that two of the team leaders have both gotten the same message from Wade Phillips and the rest of the staff, and they are buying into it. It's probably an indication that the rest of the team gets it too.

Witten also talked about his play last year against Philadelphia, when his helmet flew off and he continued running. Witten was self-deprecating about the play, saying maybe he should have gone down instead of running without a helmet, but I don't know of a football player who wouldn't have done the same thing Witten did. They all pride themselves on being tough, and there's nothing tougher than finishing a play despite being in such a vulnerable position.
