Quake shakes Cowboys' camp

From all indications, everyone seems to be OK in Oxnard, Calif. after an earthquake (5.4 magnitude, just east of LA) shook Southern California.

I was in our workroom at the team hotel, working on today's Cowboys' coverage, and I felt the building shake. Being that I had never experienced an earthquake before, I had no idea what it was.

The room we work in is a hotel room with a door leading outside and a set of stairs near the door (see picture). So I assumed someone was running down the stairs. It lasted for 5-10 seconds and literally felt like the foundation was moving.

I guess it was.

I stepped outside and didn't see anything. So I went back to the computer and realized I could still feel a swaying sensation. But it soon went away, so I thought nothing more of it. It wasn't until a buddy of mine from Texas (who was watching CNN) texted me, asking if I had survived the earthquake, that I realized what it was.

The team practices in a couple of hours. We should have their reaction later today on WFAA.com and Channel 8.

After living in CA for 10 years an earthquake is as frightening the 1st time and everytime after that because you never know if it is the BIG one, we've had glasses break, water spill out of a pool and been shaken alot over a period of 10 years but living in TX with the tornadoes at least you have a warning, with an earthquake you have none...you just shake, rattle and roll...thank God it was only 5.3...could have been worse
