Boxer Yanez loses appeal, still mysterious

USA Boxing Judicial Committee has declined to reinstate Duncanville boxer Luis Yanez to the U.S. Olympic team.

There has to be more to the story then Yanez has told. It just doesn't seem right that USA Boxing would kick off a key member because he wanted to help his sister while she battled substance abuse.

Sure he there was some call confusion, but something just seems off.

It'll be interesting to see what happens in the independent arbitration, which seems like the route Yanez will go.

This has been a hot topic I'm sure many of you have your own thoughts. Let us know.

Read story.

The Boxing Committee did what they're supposed to do.

Uphold the rules that have been established for the good of all team members.
Letting a amateur boxer get away with breaking them is to set a bad example.

Society already has a double standard for athletes and celebrities. Let’s not create another individual how thinks his talent puts him above the rules.

The system works! Hopefully this young man will learn lessons that are far more valuable than boxing. None of us should care about how high he is ranked. He broke (and flaunted) the rules several times and now that the games are approaching he is all over the media hoping for reinstatement. It's a tough way to learn but those are the best learned lessons in life.

It's funny how people are so quick to judge as if Luis ditched class to go hang out with friends, when in reality he was tending to a family member who needed him. I'm pretty sure we all would've done the same being put in that situation. Family always comes first in life. Luis deserves his spot on the US Olympic team.

Excuse for not letting the team know where you at is just BS to me. You got internet these day use it. You will fine ways to contact coach. Come on dude grow up. I am not trying to hate or anything but real lives you got to let someone know somethings. You good and all but when you do not let people know where you at how are they to count on you being there for them. You cannot blame the people for doing the right things. Just like job. No call not show you fire. Simple as that. Maybe next time if you up for it.

There got to be more to the story Luis is claiming. I am not trying to put anyone down but responsiblity is the word here. Being on the Olympic team is a dream everyone dream of. Understand family do come first but I believe it just like a job. You cannot just leave your job for two week with no call no show. Hell you only get three days. The boxer should have every contact information possible, just in case thing like this happen. These day we got email, phone, fax and Etc. There should be no reason why he cannot get a hole of the team coach. The excuse to me just not cutting it.

Thank You,

and the U.S. Boxing Commitee,

A true measure of a responsible individual is what he (or she) upholds as a member of the communtity and what they represent as a leader.

If Yanez was at the bedside attending to a very sick family member, then that type of information should surface and be verified. It's also our understanding none of Yanez's family members passed away during the time frame of his absence. If there is something to the contrary, I haven't seen any such media. I'm left to base my opinion on what has been publicized.

The Boxing Commitee judged on information that was presented in Yanez's defense. From that point of view no evidence was shown that Luis was at someone's bedside or attending someone's funeral within his term of absense.

The commitee's ruling should stand.
The U.S. Boxing Team will do fine without a captin who excuses himself of the rules and believes he can call his own shots.

Bottom line--- He failed to do his part by not keeping the commitee informed on his whereabouts.
Luis should have contacted the appropriate people to excuse his absence and that would have made a spectacular story.

Yanez wins Gold for U.S. after family hardships!
instead..
Yanez is out on a Self-K.O.'d before the Olympic Game ever started.

I have read that the coaches allowed some of the other team members extra time off to return to their hometowns and raise money for family to travel to the olympics. So there definately has to be more to the story. Also its reported that he attended a send off dinner in his honor right before coaches finally got ahold of him. The better thing would have been to humbly admit you were lying. This is what happens when ego's get too big!

The boxing committee has done what they were supposed to do in that situation. There is a formation of rules for everyone. If anybody not follows that then that person definitely will reliable for the punishment.
