For all the Hank Blalock fans out there, he's finally back, back at third base. With the emergence of Longview native Chris "Crush" Davis at First base, Blalock's career at first base for the Rangers lasted.....0 games. When Blalock originally got hurt in April, the Rangers were playing Ben Broussard(now with the Yankees AAA team) and Chris Shelton(now at Triple-A Oklahoma) at first. At the time, the move seemed right especially with Ramon Vazquez manning the hot corner and hitting .310. While I'm all for getting Blalock's bat in the line-up as long as he returns to form, what happens with Vazquez? You can't platoon two left-handed hitting third baseman. But, the best thing about sending Vazquez to the bench is you now have a 300 hitter for late game situations. Plus, the Rangers have played great baseball with "The mustache" at third, so is this a chance to showcase Blalock at third with a possible trade before the deadline? Stay tuned... 1 CommentsLeave a comment |

Looks like the Rangers are going to use Blalock as trade bait. Problem is if he comes back and does really good, but that'd be a good problem to have.
