July 2, 2008 ArchivesA rought night for the Rangers as they lose 18-7. They were up 7-6 before falling apart in the seventh. More tomorrow. ...After rookie Warner Madrigal gives up six runs while recording just one out in his major league debut, the Rangers surrender nine runs in the seventh to go down 15-7. Yikes. It'll take a miracle for them to win their last game in Yankee Stadium. Here's to the mostly bad memories. What a way to enter the majors. Warner Madrigal came in to pitch for Rangers up 7-6 in the bottom of the seventh to face Bobby Abreu, Alex Rodriguez and Jason Giambi. He came in with heat; the gun registered 97 miles an hour. Madrigal, 24, was an outfielder just two years ago. Now he is making his debut in Yankee Stadium. Last year the right-hander was pitching in A ball. Now he is trying to battle against the... Texas Rangers shortstop Michael Young left Wednesday's game after the third inning with mild strain of his left groin. I don't know if any groin strain can be classified as mild, but that is what they're calling it. It sure seems like Joaquin Benoit is doing a lot of walking. The Rangers relief pitcher who has been erratic this season came in to the sixth up one run. He proceeds to walk the eighth and ninth batters. Problem is the Rangers have few other options this early in the game. Just called up Warner Madrigal is the only other fresh arm available. Sidney Ponson was a Texas Ranger, but personality issues forced him from the team. Rookie Chris Davis just forced Ponson from Wednesday night's game with a towering homer to center field. It put the Rangers up 7-6, as they look to sweep the Yankees in the Rangers final trip to Yankee Stadium. Milton Bradley homered just two batters earlier. The Rangers are three games above .500 pending tonight's game and they are do... The Speedo LZR (pronounced laser) is making, ahem, waves in the swimming world. Thirty-eight of the 42 world records broken this year have been by swimmers wearing LZRs. The suit's LZR panels, core stabilizer and bonded seams all combine to reduce drag. Here is how Speedo describes the suit: "Made from an ultra lightweight, low drag, water repellent, and fast-drying fabric unique to Speedo called LZR PULSEā¢, the LZR RA... The problems have been on the field for the SMU football team, but they are hoping what is on their heads and backs will help the team return to "national prominence." I'm reminded of what my middle school football coach, Coach Garcia, would always say, "look sharp, play sharp." Maybe this isn't what he meant. >> Continue reading: SMU football team changing look Here we go again. Brett Favre just can't make up his mind. The legendary Green Bay Packers quarterback is considering unretiring, according to an ESPN report. It was just March when he said he's gone, now he wants to come back. When he retired, a teary Favre said, "I've given everything I possibly could give to this organization, the game of football, and I don't think I've got anything left to give And that's it. I know I can ... TCU baseball is among the best in the country for a second straight season. Baseball America ranked the Horned Frogs at No. 23 in its final poll, while Collegiate Baseball ranked the Frogs 26th. The Frogs ended the year with a 44-19 record. The 44 wins were the second-most in school history. TCU won both Mountain West Conference titles for the third consecutive season. It was also the fifth straight NCAA Regional Tou...
This is how good Serena and Venus Williams are. Not only are both going to the semifinals in singles, they are also going to the semis as a doubles team. The sisters defeated Bethanie Mattek of the U.S. and Sania Mirza of India, 6-4, 6-3 in their quarterfinals match today. Venus has won four Wimbledon singles titles and Serena two. They've won Wimbledon twice as doubles partners (2000 and '02) and have a total of six Grand Sl... From the Associated Press: WIMBLEDON, England -- Roger Federer stretched his winning Federer, the only man at this year's tournament to win every I eagerly watched as Dale Hansen interviewed Duncanville boxer Luis Yanez Tuesday night on the News 8 Update. Yanez, the captain of the U.S. Olympic team, was kicked off by his coach after failing to show for training. The 106-pound light flyweight was booted for skipping three weeks of training without getting permission or even telling USA Boxing where he was, national team coach Dan Campbell claims. The Pan Americ... |
