Three TCU football players have been named honorable-mention preseason All-Americans by The Sporting News.

Linebacker Jason Phillips, safety Stephen Hodge and center Blake Schlueter received the honor.

Phillips was also mentioned as a candidate for the Butkus Award, honoring the nation's top linebacker. Hodge was named a candidate for the Thorpe Award, given to the outstanding defensive back in the country.

Phillips, Hodge, Schlueter and cornerback Rafael Priest are on the magazine's preseason All-Mountain West Conference Team.
