Sixth-seeded Andy Roddick beat Eduardo Schwank 7-5, 6-4, 7-6 to advance to the second round at Wimbledon. The two-time Wimbledon finalist fired 17 aces and did not face a break point Tuesday in his first-round match against 60th-ranked Schwank. Roddick meets Janko Tipsarevic in the next round. The other U.S. men in action today: Wayne Odesnik quit with a leg injury giving Jarkko Nieminen of Finland the win. Mardy Fish lost to Richard Gasquet of France 6-3, 6-4, 6-2. Ernests Gulbis of Latvia topped John Isner 7-5, 7-5, 6-7, 7-6. In a battle of Americans, Jesse Levine beat Donald Young 4-6, 6-2, 6-3, 6-4.
