Mother Nature has cost a Negro League star from the 1940s nearly every piece of evidence that he was just as good as any other baseball player. Art Pennington, 85, lost nearly everything in the massive flooding in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Memorabilia, pictures, you name it. His dog too. Pennington dreamed of playing in the Major Leagues, but he was simply ahead of his time. The story is worth the read. |
