No not the Dallas Desperados who lost their arena playoff game Friday night. Certainly not the Dallas Cowboys who are in the middle of their off-season and haven't won a playoff game in more than a decade. But the Dallas Diamonds, the women's pro football team that just finished an 8-0 regular season. They destroyed the California Quake 69-3 Saturday afternoon at Pennington Field in Bedford. It was my first women's football game and it was fun to watch. I really didn't know what to expect, but I'd compare it to good high school football. That's no slight, either. The players are passionate, dedicated and work hard. It's really kind of inspiring. For many of the players it's a dream fulfilled. They couldn't play football when they were younger, so they play now. Ted Madden has a great story with some background. Here is the profile I did on one of the team's wide receivers who was prom queen last year as a senior in high school. Here's the full interview with Welniak. 1 CommentsLeave a comment |

Humm good High school football. Yeah knowing how serious Texans are about their H.S. football we'll take that as a compliment. Passionate, dedicated and work hard, yes Ted did do his homework and got the core of our very hearts in the story, well minues one important adjective...Driven (to be champions).
Looking forward to seeing the story on #89 Danilynn Welniak. Hope you guys will stay tuned for the rest of the road to the 2008 championship, we could use some company on the road trip.
Thanks for the love
