Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones says he is serious about requesting an injury settlement with receiver Terry Glenn, who is coming off a serious knee injury that kept him out of nearly all of last season. The buzz at Valley Ranch is that Glenn is refusing to sign and he is a no show at this week's mandatory mini-camp. Jones says no team in the NFL would sign Glenn without injury protection. ...Here are some musings from Coach Wade Phillips at his first mini-camp news conference: On the young Sam Hurd and Miles Austin receivers: "Miles Austin seems to have gotten more and more confident and that has made him better and better." On Roy Williams: On expectations: At his Tuesday news conference Cowboys Coach Wade Phillips echoed what QB Tony Romo had said about the absence of receiver Terrell Owens. "Terrell Owens has a family matter that I excused him for," Phillips said. "It's a family matter and it's not anything more than that." "Him missing some time is not a big deal." Phillips said younger receivers would have gotten an increased workload in this mandatory mini-camp, even ... Quarterback Tony Romo says the team was informed of Terrell Owens absence from this week's mini-camp this morning. "I don't think it's a big deal," Romo told reporters. "I don't think you guys should go crazy over it." Romo says he was told that Owens would be gone for personal reasons and that he was aware of the cause, but said he didn't feel comfortable sharing those details. The first practice of the Cowboys mini-camp stopped abruptly about 45 minutes early as a quick moving storm moved over Valley Ranch.
