| In Game Report: More Missed Opportunities »
I thought it was very interesting how Rick Carlisle began his press conference today. In his opening comments, he expressed his appreciation to ESPN for getting a chance to work with them for the past year. Carlisle also said this about his one year at ESPN: "It is the gold standard in sports, and for me, the greatest sports organization I've been a part of, until today." Here's the thing: have you EVER heard of a current coach or athlete speak so glowingly about a media outlet? If Bob Knight were to return to coaching, would he even mention his work at ESPN, much less speak well about his experience there? When Bill Parcells had his opening presser with the Miami Dolphins, did he mention anything about his time at ESPN? As a member of the media, I found this interesting. |
