The "Muggsy" Factor

It was one of the lighter moments in the interview room after the Maverick game 2 loss to the Hornets. New Orleans all-everything guard Chris Paul quipped, the last time our team beat the Mavericks in Dallas, Muggsy Bogues was the point guard.

That's right, didn't matter what they were called, the Charlotte, Oklahoma City, or New Orleans Hornets, they haven't beaten the Mavericks here in Dallas since 1998. And that Maverick fans is about all you have to hang your hat on.

In my opinion, its the sole reason for hope in a series that the Hornets have taken by the neck. Back-to-back-to-back halves of 64, 67, and 60 points for the Hornets have the Mavericks scratching their heads. And hoping their playoff experience will actually factor in at all.

The Mavs came back from down 2-games-to-none against the Rockets in the '05 playoffs. But I was at those games, and at game two, and their is nothing similar. Chris Paul is making plays for himself and his teamates and its as if the Mavericks aren't even there. Mavs fans, you've gotta hope the Hornets shooters cool off on a foriegn court, and give the Mavs a chance to keep that 10 year winning streak on their home floor in tact.

Anything short of that, and this series is all but over.
