As the Mavericks begin the final 5 games of the season, we'll get a chance to see if they can build on what happened Sunday afternoon against the Phoenix Suns. I watched the game and felt like I was watching the 2006 Western conference finals again. That Maverick team was able to shut down the high-powered Suns in several stretches, eventualy winning the Western conference championship on the Suns floor.

Sunday, the Mavericks turned a 13 point 4th quarter deficit into a stirring comeback, featuring gritty Mav defense that held the Suns without a single point for nearly 8 minutes. 8 minutes!!! Was it just a fluke, or is it what we can expect come post-season. I don't know that, but I do know this. The fact the Mavericks were able to overcome the huge deficit, and then find a way to make winning plays down the stretch is the most important development with this team since Jason Kidd put on a Mavs uniform again. And no matter what we say about this team, they proved to themselves they can win a tight game against a quality team in the west. And as we head into the playoffs, its just what any shrink would have ordered.
