Both the NBA and the NHL playoffs are going to be here before we know it. I was just wondering what other people thought about the chances of either the Mavericks or the Stars bringing a championship back to Dallas. Which team do you think has more of a realistic shot of bringing a championship home?

Personally, I think the Mavericks have better shot of winning a championship this year. I know a lot of people really did not like the trade for Jason Kidd, which is understandable because the Mavericks did give away their youth. Mavericks have become better since the trade. Jason Kidd brings something the Mavericks haven't had since Steve Nash left, a playmaking point guard, not taking anything away from what Devin Harris did for the Mavericks while he was here. Kidd just makes everyone better around him because he is a pass first shoot second point guard, Harris on the other hand was just the opposite. Mavericks already have enough scorers on the team, they needed a point guard that would open up the court more and bring the mental toughness this team has been lacking.

Western Conference is stacked 1 through 8, which isn't a good thing for the Mavericks. I know everyone remembers what happen last year with the Warriors. Mavericks have what it takes to make it back to the Finals, it is just matter of them doing their part in doing so, whether it be hitting a big shot in the 4th quarter or making a key defensive stop in the 4th.

Sorry for not giving a reason for believing the Stars will not win a championship. The main thing for me is Marty Turco hasn't proven to me that when it matters the most he can make that big save that the Stars need in the playoffs. Turco always has a great regular season, but come playoff time he doesn't make that save he needs to make. Maybe this year he proves to me that he can make that big save when it counts the most, but until then I won't believe it till I see it.
