As the TCU men's basketball team prepares for yet another Mountain
West Conference Tournament, two team members probably won't need
the usual rah-rah pep talk to get them fired up for Thursday's game.
Fort Worth's own Kevin Langford and Brent Hackett have earned
All-Mountain West Conference accolades for the second straight season.
Langford was selected as an All-Mountain West Conference third
team member for the first time in his career and Hackett was selected
as an honorable mention pick for his second consecutive season.
Unfortunately for TCU, even with their two conference standouts,
this team realizes that the odds are against them as they face
second-seeded UNLV in their first round match-up.
And for head coach Neil Dougherty, time may also be running short
to get the job done.TCU finished its regular season with a 14-15 overall
record and 6-10 in league play. If TCU loses as predicted to UNLV,
the Hornes Frogs will finish with a losing record for the fifth time under
Dougherty's six seasons as head coach of the Frogs. He has one
year remaining on his contract.
So, as the seventh-seeded Frogs depart for Las Vegas, Nev.,
you can make one sure bet. This team and its coach are
desperate for a win.
I think it time for Dougherty to go and see if different coach can help this team win.
