Desperados backup quarterback Chris Sanders reminds us dreams can come true. Chris is a former Flower Mound Marcus football star, he has played on five different AFL teams waiting for his chance to start. It is a bittersweet situation because Sanders is starting in place of Clint Dolezel who will be out for at least four weeks with a third degree shoulder separation injury. However, Chris says he just wants to help his team win until Clint returns. So far he is doing just that. He was successful in his first start and his first win throwing for five touchdowns and running one in for a score against Columbus Friday.

Chris had to get 60 tickets for family members and friends, but the requests didn't stop coming, so Chris had to turn his cell phone off and let his mother, Debbie, handle the ticket duties. it turns out, nearly 400 people turned out to watch Chris' debut.

Debbie Sanders is quite a character. She told me she has been harassing Cowboys and Desperados owner Jerry Jones for nearly seven years trying to convince him to bring Chris back to Dallas. Debbie is a courageous woman. She's a cancer survivor. In fact, Chris wanted to quit playing football his senior year at Marcus to take care of his mother, but she wouldn't let him. Chris didn't quit and is now living his dream here in Dallas. Keep your eye on Chris Sanders.
