Here is a summary of the event along with ticket details per the Richardson Chamber of Commerce website: Did you know that according to the Center for Women's Business Research nearly half of all privately held U.S. firms are 50% or more women-owned? Did you know that one-in-11 women is an entrepreneur? The Richardson business community is comprised of many powerful women and the Richardson Chamber of Commerce has developed a program specifically for these leaders. The new Women in Leadership group's mission is: Inspiring, influencing and championing powerful women through advocacy, mentoring and networking. The steering committee plans quarterly lunches which feature inspiring women and provide networking opportunities. Wednesday, March 5, 2008 "A Woman's Place: The role of real women in Texas politics and business." Senator Shapiro will speak about the role of women in politics and business, sharing her own personal exprienes and expertise from her role as a working mom, to becoming the first female mayor of Plano, to serving in the Texas Senate. You will not want to miss the Richardson Chamber of Commerce Women in Leadership Luncheon featuring Texas State Senator Florence Shapiro! Senator Shapiro has been blazing a trail for women to follow in politics since the late 70's when she first ran for office. She is one of most dynamic and incredible women that I have been fortunate enough to get to know. She is one of my favorite people in the world! Her talk on Wednesday, March 5th on women as leaders in politics and business will not only be thought provoking but also inspiring.
