That's what Bonnie Mathes called the holiday celebration she just spent with her sister, Debbie Little, their mother, 87-year-old Anna May Felger, and Bonnie's daughter, Stephanie Rodriguez. Last Saturday, the girls could be seen taking turns wheelin' Anna May around Gaylord as they all enjoyed a girls night out. "We do this a few times a year where we come to the Gaylord and mom loves it," said Bonnie. "Mom loves coming with us wherever we go and we bring her here to see all of the lights and to experience all of the Christmas displays. She has always loved Christmas and did the same thing for us when we were little. She took us everywhere. We want to do the same for her."
Just one look at Anna May at any time and you could tell she was having the time of her life. She constantly smiled as her daughters and granddaughter snapped pics with her and got her up close and personal to all of the countless Christmas tree displays, the hundreds of red and white poinsettias, the 1.2 million of lights strung throughout the hotel, a lifesize gingerbread house, and all of the train sets chugging along various settings throughout the atrium. Bonnie made the trek from Slidell, Louisiana to her daughter, Stephanie's home in Lewisville for the extravaganza. Bonnie, who lost her home during Hurricane Katrina is excited this year to be moving out of a FEMA trailer into her own home again. Debbie and mom, Anna May drove from their home in Mississippi to Lewisville which was over an 8 hour drive. "She likes to be included in everything," said Debbie. "So we just get in the car and Mom is ready to go." What I loved about seeing these girls was the amount of fun they were constantly having, and the great lengths they went to in order to ensure that their mom was a part of all of the fun. I admire these women that are showing their daughter and niece how we should not forget our elderly family members but how important it is to honor what they did for us in the past by including them in everything that we do now. It's obvious Anna May did a fabulous job raising her girls into being loving individuals who are now sharing this with the next generation. "I love when they come to visit," said Stephanie. "Even though I live here with my husband, they make me branch out and do things that I'd normally not do." Like wear the crazy hats that her mom picked out for them from the party store. To end their Girls Gone Wild Holiday Extravaganza this evening the ladies enjoyed a margarita. They wanted y'all to know that the margaritas were tasty!

I know Stephanie personally (we work together) and let me tell you that she is THE sweetest human being I have ever known. I can't imagine her family being anything BUT sweet and loving and caring.
She's truly a gem!
