She gives her children selfless love and support to achieve their dreams. Unless you know Lynne and her background it is really difficult to understand what all of that means. It’s traveling on the road with Britney, her daughter who was determined to be a singer. Brit was driven. It was finding trusting people to take care of her on the road so she could be home for Jamie Lynn. She wanted to ensure that her youngest daughter had as normal of a childhood as possible having a sister who was a world pop sensation. Like a lot of families with kids in the entertainment business, Jamie Lynn followed in Brit’s steps getting involved in acting. The offers came in at an early age. Lynne controlled them as early as possible to let her daughter only be a part of choice projects but also still be able to go to school to do normal kid stuff like cheerleading, dance, and basketball. Jamie Lynn has a good head on her shoulders. At an early age she would sit back and watch the world around her sister. She’s very bright in that regard in analyzing and learning the business early on. She voiced her opinion on what projects she would work on and which ones she wouldn’t. Jamie Lynn is a teenager. We’ve been teens and a lot of us moms have teenagers. Teens today live in an even more complicated world than we did. Yes, they’re learning right from wrong but they’re also living in a totally different world. And yes, some teens are having sex. As a parent you have the talks with your child. You give warnings. Jamie Lynn is pregnant. Talk about a scary dilemma for any teenage girl. On top of that, factor in that she’s a celebrity in her own right with a sister who is constantly put in the spotlight by the media. She knows the news of her pregnancy will be big if she keeps the baby. She tells her mother. Lynne, as any mother would be is shocked. But she is also a very devout Christian. She has such a deep faith in God. We’ve had many conversations over the years about our faith, beliefs, AND our love for our children. Like the true good mom that she is – she stood by Jamie Lynn. Of course, the word has to get out because you know that if it slipped out then Jamie Lynn and the family would’ve been hounded even more than they are right now. But let’s remember this – Jamie Lynn is still just 16. Please think of her as your own child, niece, or friend and give her a break. She made a stance to keep her baby. She’s not terminating her pregnancy. Let’s stand by her or any teen out there in the same situation. How can we judge when we all know that as adults, the countless mistakes that we’ve made in life – some minimal and some major. We try to learn from them but we also grow from them. None of us are perfect. We all make mistakes. But we also stand by our friends, loved ones, or even people we don’t even know when they admit to theirs. Give Jamie Lynn the same chance. And give credits to moms that stand by their kids. I knew Lynne would stand by Jamie Lynn. That’s the caring mom that I’ve known her to be. Oh and for years I’ve encouraged her to write a book on parenting kiddos in the entertainment industry. I promise that when she writes it, it will be a great read coming from a mom who loves her kids. |
