It's Sunday - call or visit your parents.

parents.jpgIt's Sunday so pick up the phone or jump in the car to visit your parents. It's difficult to put in words how much our parents mean to each of us, isn't it? A friend of mine, Marilyn Carruthers is a principal at Aldridge Elementary School in Richardson. She has set a standard with her sons, who are attending college that regardless of how busy their week gets that Sunday is still family day and they must talk on the phone to catch up on their week.

That's a great practice to start in keeping kids and parents connected. It also builds a standard for our kids to keep going with their children - the importance or reaching out and staying connected.

Parents are like our children, gifts from God. Cherish them and what they bring to your life by taking time out of your week to call or visit them. Or if you have an elderly friend who is now in assisted living, give them a ring or stop by. Not only will they appreciate it but you will get so much in return.
