I’d like to meet Gloria Campos. I had a meeting last summer at WFAA. I was running late and zoomed through the parking lot trying to find a spot. Driving around a corner I see a familiar face through my front windshield as I slammed on my breaks. “Gloria Campos!”

She was walking to her car and probably just finished a newscast on breaking news or the important kinds of things that Gloria Campos reports about. I mouth, “Sorry” to her and notice she looks great wearing a red suit and these cool designer like glasses, ones that didn’t hide the shock in her eyes from almost being nailed by my car.

But being Gloria Campos she regained her composure and smiled at me in a very politically correct kind of strained way. She didn’t say, “What are you an idiot? Watch where you’re going!” Instead she walked around the front of my car and went on her way. Yet, for a moment in the seconds of mayhem I sensed that we connected. I saw the moment when we locked shocked eyes as a sign of “Hey, Gloria Campos and I could totally be friends one day!” I instantly threw her on a mental list of upcoming friends.

Gloria Campos – how fun and totally cool would that be to get to know the woman that has that unique and crunk way of saying her name that no one else can master not even John McCaa. And to wake up each morning and look in the mirror KNowing you’re Gloria Campos? It doesn’t get any better than that! So I’m going to get to know Gloria Campos. Maybe she’ll let me call her Glore, or Lori or GC. Who knows – we could end up being BFFL. Maybe Gloria and I could even call Brenda from Good Morning Texas and hit some garage sales or go to a Monster Truck rally. Perhaps we could get together and make some meals to take over to Alexa who just had a baby. I’m open to what ever Gloria wants to do.
