Here's a pic of two of the dearest people in the whole wide world, Bill and Sadie Bomar with my son, my daughter's friend, and my daughter. In the south you show your elders respect when you address them and they deserve it - I call them "Miss Sadie and Mr.Bomar." To Justin Timberlake and his cousins, Matt, Nick, Heather, and Ashley they're "Granny" and "Poppa", their grandparents.

They are the sweetest couple that you will ever meet...

who have an immense love for God, their family, and friends. Miss Sadie spoils her family and grandkids with favorite dishes like chicken and dressing, peach cobbler, and other mouth watering treats - all made from scratch, of course. Mr. Bomar is retired from his home building business. He loves music and years ago when he was a firefighter a scrappy neighborhood guy named Elvis Presley would come by and jam with him and the boys at the firehouse (another neighborhood singer just starting out named Johnny Cash lived a couple blocks away).

Mr. Bomar knew Elvis very well. In fact, he told me a story of one of their jam sessions where one of the firefighters told Elvis, "Son, I hate to break this to you but you don't have any talent. You might as well hang it up." Once Elvis started getting paying gigs he invited Miss Sadie and Mr. Bomar to come see him perform. They used to hang with the King of Rock 'n Roll and dance to their friend's music! How cool is that?

I love calling Miss Sadie and Mr. Bomar to catch up on anything and everything. Since she's such an amazing cook and I'm not, I mostly ask her what she's making for breakfast, lunch or dinner hoping to pick up some tips. Whenever I hang up the phone my mouth is watering and I want to raid the fridge. She's tried to help me with cooking lessons. I think even the ever optimistic Miss Sadie is realizing that I'm a lost cause. But we're still trying! Mr. Bomar always has a funny story to share. He always has a big smile and a huge, "Why hello, Chris!" greeting that makes you feel like you're coming home each time you hear it. They're like a warm slice of home made apple pie fresh out of the oven with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top - you can't get enough of them! I've learned so much from Miss Sadie and Mr. Bomar over the years and am blessed to have them in my life.

Make today a day that you take the time to catch up with a friend. Learn about their past and dig deeper into knowing them and their wonderful history. You'll be glad you did. I guarantee it!
