TexanAtriumNight_hero.jpgPut this on your must do list – stay at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine for a fabulous end of summer getaway. Have you ever been to the resort? Oh – my – gosh – it’s fabulous! It’s one of my favorite places to stay with my family.

Gaylord Texan overlooks Lake Grapevine and is everything Texan. It has everything entertainment and comfort wise for a family or a couple looking for a great getaway weekend all under one glass atrium ceiling. It’s 4 ½ acres of botanical garden paradise where couples can stroll through the Riverwalk Atrium that has the look and feel of the original in San Antonio. Kids can explore the trails along the Palo Duro Canyon area in the Lone Star Atrium. It also has the tasty cuisine of award winning chef, Stephan Pyles at the Arna Lur restaurant in the Hill Country Atrium.

Right now they are having SummerFest on Friday and Saturday nights. It’s tons of free entertainment for adults and families without ever having to leave the hotel. It’s acrobat performances, movies poolside, cooking classes, jugglers, face painters, clowns making balloon animals plus so much more. There are even fireworks on Friday night. We’ve all been to a ton of firework displays but this one you’re so close that they cascade right above you (but it’s still at a safe distance).

Kids will never tire of the pools, entertainment or exploring. Parents can shop, relax at the 25,000 square foot spa or have a drink in the plush open lobby bar. Couples looking for some great live music and dancing can walk to the resort’s new nightclub, the Glass Cactus that is right on Lake Grapevine.

The plus side is that most everything is all under one roof so you don’t ever have to leave the resort and worry about the heat as you stroll through the riverwalk. During the rest of the year the resort also offers free entertainment and musical acts for guests of all ages to enjoy.

Their website is http://www.gaylordhotels.com/gaylordtexan/ or call 817-778-1000. During the year they also have specials going on so rooms are affordable but first class accommodations all the way. Check it out!
