Richardson High School's First Student Director!
A standing ovation goes out to Elaina Gavounas, a senior at Richardson High School. She made school history by being the first student director of a play, in this case the classic, "A Raisin in the Sun." The play was a big hit from her direction to the amazing cast and crew. Remember Miss Nancy Johnson, the angel volunteer who does crafts with the kiddos at Children's Medical Center Dallas? Every month she'll pick a craft that she does with her young patient friends and share it with Tiki readers so we can get crafty at home. Here she is with Charles Williams, 7 as they work on this month's fun Easter craft - Flower Egg Center. Click on the link below for instructions on how you can make this craft yourself or with loved ones!
To Lori Davis who was celebrating her big day with friends Chad Harmon, Lacey Otenti, and Ryan Pfeifer at Dick's Last Resort in the West End on Friday night. These Collin College students were also taking a break from a week of classes for some R & R at Dick's. Happy Birthday, Lori!
Who were also at Dick's Last Resort on Friday night having dinner before going to the Mavericks game. Their whole dinner party was decked out in Mavs gear! How cool is that????
Get ready for another mouth watering recipe that we'll be cooking with my best pal, Miss Sadie Bomar (aka Justin Timberlake's grandma). What will we be whipping up in Miss Sadie's kitchen? Tune in next week to find out. Also, be on the lookout for an exciting autographed celebrity item to be given away to one lucky reader! Stay tuned!
You will not want to miss the Richardson Chamber of Commerce Women in Leadership Luncheon featuring Texas State Senator Florence Shapiro! Senator Shapiro has been blazing a trail for women to follow in politics since the late 70's when she first ran for office. She is one of most dynamic and incredible women that I have been fortunate enough to get to know. She is one of my favorite people in the world! Her talk on Wednesday, March 5th on women as leaders in politics and business will not only be thought provoking but also inspiring.
Remember 14-year-old Matan Michaeli that I highlighted a few weeks ago here on Tiki Cocktail? I got tons of emails from readers saying how much his story inspired them. Well, his story just keeps on motivating readers around the metroplex. Here's a Dallas Morning News story that I did on him last week.
I LOVE the Pantry Restaurant located in historic downtown McKinney. They have the best food for lunch and you CAN NOT leave there without getting a slice of pie or piece of cake. You can also order ahead for whole pies. Here is assistant manager, Sulem Castaneda holding one of their sinfully yummy chocolate cream pies!
Jamie Bereyso worked at the Pantry when she was a teenager. On Saturday, she couldn't think of a better place to celebrate her bridal shower. Here she is (second from the right) surrounded by her bridesmaids. She ties the knot on July 19. Congratulations, Jamie!
Appreciate the kudos--all the kids worked really hard on the play.
