The Dynamo is dressed out in their orange jerseys and white shorts ....but this year's uniforms have some more light blue on them ....the left sleeve on the jersey is almost all robin's egg blue. Columbus is dressed in all black jerseys and shorts ...with yellow trim ..and white numerals on their jerseys.
The Dynamo has had the upperhand in the early going. There's no score .....14 minutes into the first half.

A crossing pass by Brian Mullen was a little high for Brad Davis ...in the 14th minute ..and the Dynamo missed on a pretty good scoring chance.
Then in the following minute ...former Dynamo player ..... Alejandro Moreno ....got loose behind the Dynamo defenders in the box .....but Geoff Cameron (who got the start at one of the middle defender spots) ....closed the gap in a hurry ...and knocked the ball away.
In the 17th minute ...the Dynamo again had a great scoring chance ....but the crossing pass by Richard Mulrooney ..although just a little high .....was headed over the goal by Chris Wondolowski....

Robbie Rogers had a clear shot on goal ...but it was from about 30 yards out ..and Pat Onstad easily gathered it in.
No score ...as they play it in the 25th minute.
Remember Kei Kamara ...one of the Dynamo's starting forwards ... is out for the first two matches of the MLS season .....for a red card he received in a pre-season match with San Jose. Chris Wondolowski is starting up front tonight with Brian Ching.

Wow ...a flurry of kicks ......
33rd minute off a Columbus free kick ...Schelotto ...kicks it into the box ....Marshall heads it into the goal ...but wait ....Marshall is called for a foul on the set play ...and the goal is waved off.
then in the 34th ...minute ....former Dynamo standout ...Moreno ...is open in front of the net ...but he can't control the pass ...and harmlessly kicks it wide of the net.
In the 36th minute .... Columbus has a corner kick .....it's headed away ....but man ..the guys in orange ... need to find a spurt of energy to get this thing turned around.

Scoreless at the half ......only 1 minute of stoppage time.
Looking back at the first half ...the defense by the Dynamo was pretty good ...I really like Geoff Cameron's play ....but the offense is sluggish. The local team had a few chances ...but clearly the Crew is setting the tone in this one.
Dynamo coach Dominic Kinnear ...can't be happy as he takes his team to the lockeroom. 0-0-0 at the half.

Columbus will have first touch as the second half begins.
Columbus had more energy than the guys in organge in the opening half ....playing their first regular season opener in several years without Dwayne DeRosario ....has been tough so far.
