First off ...isn't it great to live in Houston??
Air-conditioned baseball when we need it.....is a very good thing.
Anyway ....as I watch the Astros bludgeon the visiting Cardinals ...I'm optimistic about the 2009 season ...if Ed Wade can find strengthen the pitching rotation significantly. The Astros are hitting and scoring runs ....even without Carlos Lee. 37,569 fans are here .... despite the fact that the Astros probably have no chance of contending. The fans appreciate the effort these guys are giving. Final pre-season game lost by Texans to Bucs 16 to 6. The Texans go 2 & 2 on the pre-season. I thought Petey Faggins had a standout game for the Texans on defense ....and Tim Bulman ...defensive lineman looked good.
Kris Brown is in mid-season form ...and punter Matt Turk looks ready to go. Also Anthony Maddox made some plays at the defensive line spot. Other than that ....there was some really bad football. I'm headed to the lockeroom ...and I'll have more on the Texans and all their cuts ...tomorrow on 11 News at 6 and 10 . See you then.

Texans call timeout .... it's 2nd and 9 at the Texans 20.
Here we go ....2nd down run ...nets maybe half a yard.
3rd and 8 with the clock stopped again by Texans with 1:50 remaining.
3rd down run ... close to first down .....it'll be short
4th and 2 for Bucs ....they'll attempt to nail the Texans coffin shut with a Matt Bryant field goal ...and he makes it to make it 16-3 Bucs. 1:01 left in 4th. Neither team has scored an offensive touchdown.
