N.F.L. making cuts but not Texans

When you consider the present financial situation of the big three automakers, the 150 jobs the N.F.L. is cutting doesn't really seem like much. Unless your job is one of the 150 being cut. Is it a cost cutting move by the league?
Or , just a P.R. move since the U.S. economy is in a recession. Only Commissioner Roger Goodell's hairdresser knows for sure. The N.F.L. has more than 1000 employees in 3 cities, and the layoffs represent about 14 percent of the staff.

Texans need more rollover minutes after MNF

In the past, if you played for the Houston Texans it was like being in the witness protection program. Most of your friends took your word when you said you played in the N.F.L., but they never saw you on national tv.
God knows they thought you were big enough, but to see you on the big screen was real validation.

It gave people a chance to say , wow that Mario Williams was really worth the number 1 pick in the draft. Outside of Houston, Steve Slaton might as well be Sam Slade. But after scoring 2 touchdowns in Monday night's win over Jacksonville with America watching, Slaton's jersey might pop ...
