If the Dynamo beat Atlante' in Cancun Tuesday night it would be big deal. No MLS team has ever beaten a Mexican team on it's home turf. But if the Dynamo would have signed popular Mexican star Omar Bravo .....it could have been an even bigger deal. Dynamo Chief Operating Officer Chris Canetti revealed to us tonight that the team had offered Bravo big money to come to Houston. Bravo ....who made his name playing with Chivas in the Mexican league ....has been over in Spain playing for Deportivo La Coruna. Apparantly a lack of playing time got him homesick and he wanted to come back to this side of the Atlantic. When Canetti and coach Dominic Kinnear found out Bravo was available ... they went for it. The deal would have been worth 1.8 million dollars according to Canetti. Sunday night Canetti was told by both Bravo and his agent ....that the star forward wanted to play in Houston. Alas .... the deal didn't go through ....instead Bravo signed with Tigres of the Mexican League. "I think we might have been used," said Canetti. Whatever happened to nix the deal ...the important thing for Dynamo fans to know is that Canetti and Kinnear "went for it." Sure you can say it was a "swing and a miss." ....but you'll never hit a homerun if you don't swing. Staying with the baseball analogy ....if the Dynamo would have pulled this off ....it would have been like the Astros signing Jake Peavy as a starting pitcher. Bravo is a talented attacking forward. He would have attracted more fans to the Dynamo games ...and Canetti feels that most importantly he would have helped the team win more games. The Dynamo swung on this one ... and even though they didn't connect ..... Mexican soccer fans in Houston need to know they were close to knocking one "outta the park." 1 CommentsLeave a comment |

Well dang it! What a strike partnership Ching and Bravo could have formed.
