Just when Sage Rosenfels and the Texans were looking to salt away a 10 point win over the visiting Colts.....Sage tried to do too much. Instead of just going down ...on a 3rd down run ....he tried to hurdle a defender and got helicoptered down by 3 defenders ....lost the ball ...and by the time Sage knew what hit him .....the Colts were scoring at the other end. Then after the Texans got the ball back .Sage was stripped of the ball ...while trying to pass ....setting up the Colts in great field position and allowing them to put up the go-ahead score on the board. Sage topped his day off ....or bottomed if you will ...with an interception in the final minute as he tried to rally his team. "Devastating,"...Mario Williams said. He had two sacks for naught today. Andre Johnson said,,"words can't describe it ....it's just unbelievable.." Sage ....being the great competitor ...as always ..just tried to do too much today. He knew it afterwards. "I let all 53 players and 15 or so coaches down." Sage is such a tough guy that .I knew he wouldn't cry in front of a room full of reporters ....but I guarantee you he did Sunday night. He's a great competitor ....that's why everyone loves him ....but in the closing minutes Sunday ...not only did he contribute heavily to the loss ...he also lost out on his big chance to unseat Matt Schaub as the Texans starting quarterback. So much for the potential quarterback controversy that was brewing earlier in the game. After missing the game due to flu-like symptoms ...Schaub will once again be the Texans starter next Sunday. I love both Sage and Matt ....both are capable of winning in the NFL .....but I really am feeling bad for Sage right now. . |
