If Texans fans want to help our their favorite NFL team ... they need to start showing up to games on time. Okay ...I get the whole tailgating scene .... but c'mon!!! Texans fans pride themselves in being one of the best places to tailgate in the NFL. And this is a great place. Especially considering during the OIlers regime here ... owner Bud Adams refused to allow tailgating ...in fear that it would cut into his food and beverage sales. But let me be clear about this .....tailgating past the introduction of the starting lineups ..... does not help your football team. Kansas City and PIttsburgh are two of the greatest tailgating cities in the NFL .....but the fans there are always in their seats by the time the starting lineups are introduced. The same goes for great places like Cleveland and Denver. It's embarrassing to have CBS' cameras scan the stadium right before kickoff and nearly half the seats in the place are empty. And if you think I'm overreacting .... just check the record and you'll see that the Texans have been miserable on their early possessions at Reliant Stadium through the years. In the old Oilers days .....when fans didn't show up until the 2nd quarter .... officials would always say,"Hey ...a lot of people go to church on Sundays ..and they just can't get here on time." To a certain extent I buy that. But unlike 25 years ago ...... every church in the area ...has multiple services ...if you're truly a diehard fan ...find out the service you can get to ....and then get yourself into the stadium. If the game kicks off at 12:05pm ....please be inside by 11:45am. If it kicks off at 3:15pm ..... be there by 2:55pm at the latest. If you would just start doing that ....your favorite NFL team would appreciate it .....and also play better early in those games. Do you agree or disagree?? Just let me know. |
