So the Texans aren't as good as many expected them to be?? Really?? How many people actually believed they would beat the Steelers?? The Steelers are one of the best teams in the AFC ...and Texans Coach Gary Kubiak new his guys would have to play nearly a perfect game .......but of course .... they didn't.

This doesn't mean that the Texans still can't have a successful season .... but what this does mean is that ...... they really have to step it up a notch ..... to be mediocre. That's a little harsh ..... but that's how badly they played Sunday. True the Steelers are one of the best teams in the AFC .. ( they could be Super Bowl favorites following Sunday's season-ending injury for New England's Tom Brady) ....but the Texans know they have to do better.
Kubiak took the blame today ..... and his players ...did also. Chester Pitts .... admitted he and his offensive linemen teammates ..... made some small mistakes that turned into huge plays for the Steelers defense (5 sacks of Schaub). The Texans also seem to have such a fragile confidence ...that even though they were moving the ball well on their opening posssession .. when a bad call took the ball out of their hands ...... they cratered ...and by the time they woke up ....they were down 21 to nothing. Pitts says,"The thing is .... in this business you're never going to get every call. We all thought we had the first down .... but obviously we didn't. But you can't let that play affect the next play and then the next play after that ... you'll never get out of that rut if you let things like that happen."

Well ... obviously the Texans are in a rut. Schaub's in one ....and the defense ...is in one. The running backs wish they were good enough to be in one. The good news is ... there are 15 games left to make something positive happen. It's up to the Texans to get out of the negative rut ...and get the season back on track.

I still have them picked for a 9 & 7 season.
