The hottest team in baseball may finally be cooled off .... high school football games are being juggled, colleges are doing the same ...... and the Texans scheduled opponent on Sunday ..... Baltimore ....is contemplating a change in travel plans ...... all of this because of Ike.

UH is moving it's Saturday afternoon football game with Air Force.... to Dallas. It was slated to be played originally at Robertson Stadium at 2:30pm ....but due to the approaching storm ...and all the logistical problems it raises .... UH officials have moved it to the SMU campus.

Okay .. .... here is what HISD is doing. All extra-curricular events are cancelled for Friday , Saturday and Sunday.

HISD has cancelled the following games outside Harris County: Chavez at Splendora, Furr at Beaumont Kelly, and Bellaire at South Lake Carroll

Milby vs. Pasadena is tentative for Thursday at Barnett; Worthing vs. Beaumont Ozen will be played next week Saturday at Barnett. Westbury vs. Sterling (cancelled not rescheduled, Austin vs. Scarborough cancelled not rescheduled, Wheatley vs. Davis Cancelled not rescheduled.

All Friday varsity Volleyball will be played at same sites and times Thursday, all sub varsity Volleyball cancelled and not rescheduled.

Also in the area ... the big Cy-Falls vs Northshore high school football game has been shifted to the Berry Center for an 8pm start on Thursday.

The Astros still haven't announced the team's plans for this weekend's series with the visiting Cubs. Club officials have been busy with meetings today going over the all possible scenerios. There is a possibility the Friday game with the Cubs could be moved up to an afternoon game .....but club officials say they won't determine that until tomorrow. Earlier in the week .... there was talk of possibly moving at least part of this key series to Wrigley Field in Chicago. Astros GM Ed Wade said today that it's "highly unlikely" the games would be moved to Chicago. Both the Cubs and the Astros have a scheduled off day for Monday ....so they could postpone one game of the 3-game series to that date .....if they had to.

Rice University's football team is slated to fly to Nashville, Tennessee Friday morning where the Owls will play Vanderbilt Saturday. Rice is making contingency plans for the team's return ... in case the players have to stay in Nashville an extra night.
The Rice men's tennis team was supposed to hold a tournament here this weekend .....but the visiting teams (Wake Forest, LSU & Tulsa) were concerned about their athletes safety ....so the tournament has been postponed.

As for the Texans ... their home opener with the visiting Ravens is slated for 3:15pm on Sunday .... but today Baltimore coach John Harbaugh acknowledged in his media phone call .... that the team could fly into Houston Friday ....to get here before the storm hits ....but of course the Ravens plans ....like so many others right now ....are up in the air ... thanks to Hurricane Ike.
