Life imitates art for Jacoby Jones

Sometimes life really does imitate art. Take the case of Texans receiver Jacoby Jones.
After he fumbled the ball during a preseason game vs the Saints, Jones started a love affair with the football.

Actually, the credit has to go to Texans Special Teams Coach Joe Marciano. "Joe gave me the ball and said you need to start walking around with this ball, and I said you guys are treating me like Darnell Jefferson," Jones said.

Who is Darnell Jefferson, you ask? He's a fictional character played by actor Omarr Epps in the movie "The Program". The Jefferson character is a freshman football player who has a problem hanging on to the football.
So his coach, played by James Caan, hands him a football and says, "everytime I see you, I want to see that football."
When I talked to Jacoby on Wednesday, he told me he is taking the whole situation very seriously. When he's going to the mall, or driving in his car the football is
always with him. It's the first thing he reaches for when he gets out of bed in the morning.
But his teammates are doing their best to take it away from him. Quarterback Matt Schaub told me, "I've been trying to get it out of his hand for about a week and a half, but he's holding on pretty tight."
I did ask Jacoby if he dropped it yet and his response was, "no I have not, and I'm not planning on it."
That's something coach Gary Kubiak will be happy to hear.
