For Rockets, what happens in Vegas won't stay in Vegas

We all thought the Rockets had a great draft. Instead of pulling one rabbit out of his hat, General Manager Darly Morey pulled two. Could David Copperfield do that? On paper Donte' Greene of Syracuse, and Joey Dorsey from Memphis appear to be the real deal, now they will get a chance to prove it .

Starting next Wednesday the Rockets summer league team will workout at Toyota Center. It's a chance for the rookies and free agents to get to know each other before playing the 5 game Summer League schedule. Rockets Assistant Elston Turner will be coaching and playing chaperon in Las Vegas. But Elston is no "Illusionist". He can't work magic with smoke and mirrors. For the Rockets, this is a business trip. It's an opportunity to find a few diamonds in the rough. But in this case, the Rockets are hoping what happens in Vegas won't stay in Vegas.

If Aaron Brooks looks like the second coming of C.P. 3, the Rockets hope its something he can carry over to training camp. If big Joey Dorsey is the "hip hop" version of Otis Thorpe, can he use that power day in and day out? Is Donte Greene's outside shooting really that good? These are all questions the Rockets are hoping to answer in Vegas.

People go to Las Vegas every day chasing their dreams, hoping to hit that big jackpot. The Rockets believe they've already hit the jackpot, with guys like Greene, Dorsey , and
Maarty Leunen. Now they're looking for confirmation. Their first Summer League game will be on July 14th against the Phoenix Suns.
