I was trying to get a read on how the Texans will do in 2008, so I left no stone unturned. Of course you look at how they stack up at each position. Then you compare their skill players to others around the league.
You always have to factor in injuries, and bad calls. How will Peyton Manning's injury figure into this? Will the Texans sweep V.Y. and the Titans ? But I suggest we checkout some other measuring sticks.
Coach Gary Kubiak works his team hard, but he also stays in great shape. Many times Kubiak can be spotted jogging to his office after practice. Maybe we could swipe his workout shirt, and get a Fortune Teller to do a Psychic Reading on his sweat.
We could learn about astrology, and checkout Mario Williams Zodiac sign. Maybe, just deal some "Tarot Cards" to Andre Johnson. Or, we could just look at the schedule and guess like everyone else.
At first glance, I see the Texans with their second straight 8-and 8 season. They should be at least 2 and 2 after the first 4 games, with victories over the Ravens and the Titans on the road.
October looks like a good month. They could be 2-1 with victories over Miami and Detroit heading into the bye week. November looks like the money month.
They play 3 games on the road at Minnesota, Indianapolis, and Cleveland, with a home game vs the Bengals. That 4 game stretch could be the difference between 10 wins,
or 8 wins. I pick the Texans to win 3 out of 5 in December, with victories against the Jaguars, Titans, and the Raiders.
In fact, I think 10 wins might be a real possiblity this season, if the right breaks fall their way. However, I'm going with 9 and 7, assuming they can sweep the Titans and split with the Colts.
