It's also painful to see a Living Legend go through this. I blame Favre for this mess more than anyone else. Green Bay management might be somewhat to blame .... but only somewhat. Certainly his agent ..... caused much of this .... but at some point Favre has to take responsibility. If he didn't want to retire he should have told the Packers that at the end of the 2007 season ... and if they had a problem with that ...... he could have asked to become a free agent. But don't forget .... Favre had been doing his "I might not play after this season:" dance for several years now.

Of course .... Brett hates to hang it up. Of course ...he's going to miss being in the spotlight ... and of course he's going to miss the paydays. The problem is .... the Packers had to move forward when he retired. The money he would have tied up ..... has already been allocated. If Thompson can figure out a way to keep him ....I would say,"Congratulations." But odds are ....he won't be able to. He'll sign elsewhere ... maybe even in the Packers division .... he'll play well ....and Thompson will be roasted in Green Bay.

Look ... I respect Favre ....(and not just because he starred in "There's Something About Mary") ........ but I think he's the one that has created this mess.
