Just How Bad Is The Astros Pitching Depth??

It's so bad that when starting pitcher Brian Moehler walked opposing pitcher Ben Sheets in the 2nd inning ...in the middle of a 5-run rally .... Manager Cecil Cooper left Moehler in the game. Moehler later yielded 2 runs in the 5th to put the game out of reach ....but good grief .... when a pitcher isn't pulled after yielding multiple homers plus walking the opposing pitcher ......a team has major pitching issues.

The bottom line is .... Coop and General Manager Ed Wade can hold all the closed door meetings they want ....but if this team doesn't get some pitching help soon ...... they'll never get back into the race. Heading into Thursday's season finale with the Brewers ... the Astros trailed first place Chicago by 9 games .... they're in trouble ...and something needs to be done.

I did like the fact that Darren Erstad was in the starting lineup. I think he should be there more often ...with Bourne struggling at the plate.

The fans started streaming to the exits once Valverde yielded a lead-off homer. It's too bad ....because this is Day-Care day at Minute Maid ...and thousands of kids will go home sad. (And not just because the class bully was teasing them.)

To the Houston Astros:
Thanks for ruining our day. We feel like beating our kids after seeing what happened to our team yesterday. We will not wear the free tie you losers gave us,and that 'country band' that performed before the game was lousy, just like the team's performance this weekend. Do us a favor,McLane:Why not move the Astros to Nashville just like Oilers owner Bud Adams did and do it today?
