Astros Fans Impatient ... But Management Holding Fast

Roy Oswalt is the starting pitcher for the Astros tonight .... but he takes the mound knowing that his name is being thrown around in the latest trade rumors involving his club and others. He says,"I haven't heard a thing. No one has talked to me."
Oswalt went on to say,"The biggest thing for me is that I was drafted by Houston and I've been with Houston all my career, so it would be tough to leave, for sure. But ya know .. if they decide to start rebuilding the team ..I'm the type of person that I want to win. I don't want to sit here for 3 or 4 years and not win. I ahve 3 years left on my contract so I want to be put in a position to win. I don't want to be put in a position to win 4 or 5 years from now because I won't be here. Oswalt is a valuable commodity ...and if the Astros want to rebuild ..something that owner Drayton McLane will never say .... Oswalt will be heavily sought after. Manager Cecil Cooper counters with, "Veterans think that especially with the trade deadline approaching ... but we aren't thinking in terms of that .......we're thinking in terms of winning." So, for now at least ..... the trade talks on the call-in shows will continue to be just that ... all talk. We'll see if that changes in the coming weeks. A successful homestand may stem the talk abit. Another bad homestand though .... will just add fuel to the fire.
