The first time young Michael Rockett saw a baseball game he was hooked. I know because his father Paul told me so. Now after a stellar career at Fort Bend Austin High School, Michael is making his mark at the University of Texas at San Antonio . This season the centerfielder was slected as the Player of the Year in the Southland Conference for 2008. At 6'1 and 170 pounds , speed is a big part of his game. Rockett has put up some sweet numbers for the Roadrunners . His batting average is a hefty .362. He put his speed to good use scoring 68 runs , while driving in 56. He also lead the Roadrunners with 25 doubles, tieing for 6th nationally. Meanwhile , U.T.S.A. dropped its Southland Conference Tournament opener on Wednesday, so Rockett and the Roadrunners will face an elimination game on Thursday. But no matter what the outcome, its truely been a special season for Michael Rockett. |
