Coach Mark Johnson guided the Texas A&M baseball team to two College World Series appearances in his more than

2 decades in College Station. Like all good things , the relationship between Johnson and the Aggies came to an end.

But you know what they say , one man's trash is another man's treasure. Johnson has been nothing but solid gold at Sam Houston State. He's guided the Bearkats to two consective Southland Conference Tournament Titles, and

this year their automatic bid to the Regionals has setup a showdown with the Rice Owls. The Bearkats have

11 seniors on the 2008 squad and they all point to Johnson's leadership as the key to their sucess. Outfielder

Todd Sebek of Kerrville said , "He's our general and our leader and our captain and we follow where ever he takes us."

"A lot of our strength comes from him, but he also loosens us up and really gets us ready to play," added Sebek.

Johnson came in with a reputation for being a winner. He won 876 games at Texas A&M and the Kats were hungry for someone with his knowledge. According to Johnson "they probably heard some bad stuff also, but they did buy in to my credibility, they think that I have something that they don't have so that part was we fun to watch happen." Sam Houston will face off against the host Rice Owls in a Regional matchup tomorrow at 6pm.
