Good morning from Reliant Stadium ....the 2nd day of the NFL Draft is underway ...and the Texans bolstered their roster on both sides of the ball in the 3rd round.
First off .. with their initial 3rd round pick they went defense ...when they selected a cornerback out of Eastern Kentucky University ...named Antwaun Molden. He actually started his college career at Toledo ....then transferred to Eastern Kentucky. He's 6-0 198. Molden says,"I was excited becuase it's a once in a lifetime opportunity for these things and I'm ready to come in and work." Molden played for Ted Ginn Sr. in high school. He said he had no idea which team was going to take him in the draft but,"I know the Texans are a great organization. It's a young team, it's on the rise. I'm looking forward to it."

The other 3rd round pick ...thanks to yesterday's trade .....was the 89th pick overall ...and the Texans picked Steve Slaton ...a running back out of West Virginia.
Slayton rushed for nearly 4,000 yards in Rich Rodriguez's system .... but he's undersized at 5-9, 197. Slaton said,"I see myself as a playmaker. I am proud of myself for making big plays and I think that is what I can bring to the Texans."

Texans' defensive coordinator Richard Smith said afterwards .... obviously the team was looking for depth at the cornerback position with Dunta Robinson out. He feels like he has some of the attributes Dunta has ...but he's not putting him in that high of a catagory just yet. He'll have to prove himself on the field ...but Smith likes his tools. As for Slayton ...Texans' offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan says he's looking at Slaton ...as a situational 3rd down back ....possibly a return man also. Shanahan says Slaton compares favorably to Reggie Bush or Kevin Faulk. If that comparison proves out on the field ....the Texans really got a steal late in the 3rd round.
