The calm before the storm at Reliant

The UT fans aren't here yet, no legions of orange t-shirts, painted faces or Longhorn caps. Not yet.

There's just a quiet hum of trucks, golf carts and cars moving around Reliant as people work to get this venue ready for the Big Dance tonight.

We are 2 hours away from the pep rally and about 4 hours away from tip off. At 4:30, Longhorn fans can come to Reliant Center on the first floor and get warmed up at cheering on their home team. We've taken a sneak peak in that pep rally room. It's mostly empty right now save for several round tables and another table filled with treats like cotton candy. We were told the UT people weren't there yet. There's still time to spruce up the room....we're still a few hours a way.

Memphis, who is playing after the UT vs. Stanford game, will also have a pep rally at Reliant Center. We stuck our heads in the Memphis pep rally room too. They went all out. The room is decorated beautifully in their colors - blue and white. The first thing that caught my eye was the large insignia's shined onto the walls by a light. It had a Tiger jumping over the word "Memphis". The walls were paneled in blue. The tables had blue and white pom poms on them. They are set to get their party rolling!

Tickets are selling fast now. This morning there were just 3,000 left. It helps that Reliant is now selling single session tickets - meaning you can buy a ticket just for today's game for $78. Originally they were only selling a $156 dollar ticket that allowed you to go to both games tonight and the one on Sunday. I met one man today who told me he and his family can now go to the game. He bought 7 tickets for his sons and godsons because they all love the basketball. If the tickets had remained at $156 per person, they would not have been able to go. He was very happy and was looking forward to tonight's big game.
