For Adelman trade is all about trust

On Thursday night, I watched Rockets general manager Daryl Morey talk about his team's
new trade. He was really excited about the deal that sent Bonzi Wells and Mike James
to New Orleans for Bobby Jackson, but most of the fans seemed to be luke warm about the deal. But after Jackson came off the bench to score 14 points in a 110-97 Rocket rout
of the Chicago Bulls all was forgotten. The Rockets had won 12 in a row and life was grand.

Coach Rick Adelman is giving guard Bobby Jackson the keys to his car again. In the past,
the former 6th Man of the Year did a fine job driving for Adelman.

But Jackson is now 34 years old, and coach is hoping he can still see the road to the
playoffs . Well, on Sunday night , his eye sight looked great, and so did the Rocket's foresight to make the deal that reunited Adelman and Jackson.

In a lot ways, the move means Adelman didn't really trust rookie Aaron Brooks to be
the sole backup for Rafer Alston , who's playing great right now .

But for this deal to continue to work players like Luis Scola, Carl Landry, and Steve Novak
must continue to bring their best games to the court. Scola was sensational vs the Bulls on
Sunday night. Not only did he score 17 points , but he was a force inside on the boards.
Landry also stepped in and recorded an incredible block, and made a couple of really sweet
assist . They most continue to produce productive minutes off the bench .
All this makes life so much easier for Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming, and that
makes life easier for the Rockets .

It was that long ago the Rockets were just fighting to get into the chase for the playoffs.
But after winning 12 consective games , they are actually in the hunt for the best record
in the West.
